The major of resource and environmental science is based on ecology, and is a comprehensive subject of applying reasonable resource-utilizing and environmental science theory and technology to the fields of production and environmental protection. It aims at cultivating students o acquire the theoretic knowledge and applied ability about current biology, resource and environmental science and to be high-level innovative talents.
The main research interests include: environmental and ecological engineering, environmental toxicology, environmental agrology, technology and engineering of country sewage treatment, biomass energy engineering, resource and environmental information technology, plant protection, exploitation and utilization of wilding.
The major of resource and environmental science is run by the Department of Resource and environment. The department consists of a doctoral program(co-constructed with School of Environment) affiliated with primary discipline of environmental science and engineering, a doctoral program affiliated with sub-discipline of ecology, a Master’s program affiliated with the primary discipline of plant protection and two Master’s program affiliated with the sub-discipline of pesticide science and ecology. It also consists of the Ministry of Agriculture Key Laboratory of Urban Agriculture(South).This department has a strong and qualified teaching faculty, including 10 professors and 10 associate professors.
Graduates of this major could engage in scientific research, teaching, technological development and management work in environmental pollution treatment, biomass energy engineering, plant protection and other related ones. They could also pursue further studies in the above fields. In recent years, the employment prospects of graduates are wide. Many graduates have entered the domestic and foreign well-known companies, environmental management departments and research institutes.
