报告人简介

      Sorrentino博士目前在瑞士雀巢健康科学研究所任课题组长,研究方向为代谢、营养与蛋白质平衡如何互作调节健康与衰老。2014年博士毕业于荷兰阿姆斯特丹大学,在Noam Zelcer教授课题组研究泛素-蛋白酶系统调节LDL-胆固醇代谢,文章发表于European Heart Journal(影响因子23.239)和Circulation Research(影响因子15.862)等高水平杂志。随后在瑞士洛桑联邦理工学院Johan Auwerx教授课题组开展博士后研究,方向为线粒体与 NAD+代谢对衰老和神经退行性疾病的调节,成果于2017年在Nature杂志以长文(Article)形式发表。

报告摘要

 Aging and aging-related disorders affecting the brain and muscle are characterized by a collapse of cellular proteostasis, mitochondrial homeostasis and NAD+ metabolism. In this talk, I will present my recent work and contributions on the link between metabolism and proteostasis in aging-related conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and in muscle aging and disease. Using multiple species, from the nematode C. elegans to humans, I will show that genetic, pharmacological and nutraceutical approaches, such as the natural NAD+ booster Nicotinamide Riboside (NR), actively contribute to preserve or recover brain function or muscle integrity during aging or proteotoxic stress conditions. My research supports the relevance of enhancing mitochondrial function and proteostasis to delay age-related disorders, such as AD, and other neuromuscular degenerative diseases characterized by mitochondrial and proteostasis alterations.
